Pam Schomberg is a contemporary potter currently working from her studio in the Essex countryside. A Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, an Honorary member of Suffolk Crafts Society and a Selected member of Anglian Potters, Pam has exhibited both nationally and internationally with work featured at The Open Eye Gallery (Edinburgh), Cecelia Coleman Gallery (St. Johns Wood), The Crypt (St Paul’s) and The William Morris Museum (Walthamstow), to name but a few. Also featuring at Liberty in London as part of a promotion for a collection of her work acquired by the iconic store.
As a veteran of ceramics she began her career after graduating from Sligo Art School in the rugged landscape of Southern Ireland and then on returning to Colchester furthered her studies at the School of Art there.
After graduating she set up her first studio in Colchester and became a full-time potter. Her unique style quickly caught the attention of the ceramic world and she had a full schedule of exhibitions in the United Kingdom and Europe.
As her passion for the arts deepened she opened ‘Gallery Schomberg’ in Colchester, which after two years became a Craft Council Selected Gallery. The purpose of which was not only to exhibit and promote established makers from all over the country alongside her own work, but to provide a platform for emerging new talent.
After 15 years running the Gallery and working in her studio down stairs, she felt it was time to focus on her own work and resume as a full time potter. She closed the Gallery and relocated to Cuckoo Farm Studios art community, where she continues to create and develop new work.
Pam is currently working on a new collection for the upcoming exhibitions as detailed below. A development of past collections but in her own words, ‘something quieter.’
